Also, watch out for teaser rates - a big come on to get you to sign up at $4.95 a month for six months, at which point the hosting fee jumps to $39.95 every 30 days. Does that sound like a company you want as your on-line partner? Sounds highly unethical but a lot of web hosts tease you in to signing up before hitting you with a whopping jump in your monthly business hosting fee.

For somebody who has never started a website or has no experience in this field, selecting the right web hosting can be a big challenge or even the first mistake. Not because it is hard to find a web hosting service, but because it is hard to select proper web hosting for particular website. There are many cheap deals, many free hosting offers and many possibilities for wrong decision. Selecting free web hosting is a very common mistake. There is no free lunch. Free web hosting is fine for some type of websites, but you should always check terms of service and reputation of this web hosting provider.

Worse than having a bad email address, which you find out right away, your email may be blocked and you may never know it. Email providers and mail server managers are constantly trying to get ahead of the curve by blocking unwanted, malicious or virus laden emails. Because of the load it puts on email servers world-wide, when an email is blocked as potential spam, nothing gets back to the sender telling you that you've been blocked.

So, to fend off attacks from hackers, crackers, script-kiddies and other bad guys, your web hosting-host-web-partner maintains a hard-wired firewall, firewall software that's updated regularly, anti-virus software that protects your business assets and anti-spyware software that keeps key-loggers at bay, protecting your on-line business.

These are programming softwares and databases used by your hosting server. They are used for the more advanced web features like automated content management, user management, running scripts and programs etc. If you don't understand them, you don't need to. Because most of the package include the popular languages and databases that you might need when you want to use them.

Choose the right hosting before you buy. At www.Hosting2Choose.Com, we already made the top list in web host industry which we found out they are considerably have good price and good support in hosting business. But in the end the choice is yours not us.

However, there is a service called 000webhost that features PHP, MySQL databases, 1.5GB space, 100GB bandwidth per month, subdomains, email business hosting, FTP, and many other features. However, to the average user these do not matter much, all we really need is the PHP, FTP, and 1.5GB space, which will be hard to fill up. To use their services however, you need to register for an account. Once you do, either edit your domain's CNAME from your domain provider, or choose a subdomain if you are on a budget, but I highly recommend a domain, as it only costs $5.

I currently have 2 problems that are unsolved. One is how to connect Pay Pal with my site. The other is my sitemap which keeps reverting back to the original four page sitemap. I have contacted phone support about the Pay pal issue but not the sitemap. Phone support said that I would have to write a .php script and that they weren't required to know .php scripting at Yahoo!Web Hosting technical support.

You have a website designed or want to design a website and need to know the web hosting space and bandwidth required for your website. I will try to clear your few doubts on web space and data transfer required in order to help you in selecting an appropriate hosting plan.

The world wide web (W3) is a vast frontier for those within whom the web-preneurial spirit burns brightly. To open a brick and mortar business on Main Street is going to cost a pile of capital, and in this economy, who wants a second (or third) mortgage to roll the dice and fund a new gift shop downtown.

A domain name is like an address for your website (similar to the address for a house). It tells people where to go to find your website. The web hosting is more like the land that the house sits on, it's the 'physical' part, the part where the actual data that makes up your website is stored.

Be careful of the unexpected and avoidable downtime of a business hosting company. It is nothing but the inefficiency of the service providers. It is found that the service providers shout for giving 99.9% web hosting uptime but end up giving below 90%. It is nothing but the lack of infrastructure (machinery and manpower). Find out the market reputation of the company before selecting for your website. A too long downtime is huge loss in business.

Don't worry; you don't have to be completely tech literate to use these points. Please bare in mind that this list is not fool proof and you should always complete basic checks and research to ensure your web hosting company is well established and provides a trusted, professional service.
